Dell Laptop Repair Question... Somone's coming to my house to repair laptop screen, is this typical?

I just got off the phone with dell support since 1/3 of my laptop screen is really dark compared to the rest. They said that some guy would be calling me in the next couple of days to replace the screen. I found this odd, considering I thought I was going to be sending the thing back in the mail. Is this a typical repair? Is this a person employed outside of dell that is going to replace my screen? What gives?Dell Laptop Repair Question... There are Technicians contracted by Dell to fix laptops and PC's in the home, sometimes it is cost effective for Dell (and others) to not pick up the PC and fix it at their repair centre but to send someone to the clients home or business and repair there. The cost of the repair in the home is much less than the cost of picking up the computer, returning it and fixing it and just as important paying for the space to store it. while its waiting to be fixedDell Laptop Repair Question... In many cases, large companies like Dell use independent contractors, and small contracting firms to provide service to individual customers, reserving their technicians for large companies... and even then we sometimes get contractors too. He will probably pick up your laptop, work on it, maybe a couple days, and bring it back. If he already knows exactly what the problem is he may be able to cure it on the spot. But there's no telling. To answer your question... it's likely, but you can't be sure. Just go by what Dell said.
