How do I access a password screen for Wifi at other people's houses (i.e. friends?)?

Going to Wireless connection and refreshing the list doesn't work. Need help.





XP Media Center Edition.





Dell inspiron E1505.





He has a password.How do I access a password screen for Wifi at other people's houses (i.e. friends?)?
If you're going to the wireless connection list and it says it cannot be configured, you're probably using a built-in software control from whomever made your particular wireless card. Click on the advanced settings on the left hand side and check the box ';Let Windows Control my wireless device';. Then try refreshing. How do I access a password screen for Wifi at other people's houses (i.e. friends?)?
if the connection comes up in the list of connections then all you need to do is click on it, wait a minute and put the password in. if the signal from his connection doesn't come up then you may not be close enough to get a signal or he may already have the limit of computers on the router.
