Michigan house Landlord has to supply screens for external windows?

I'm a college student living in a house in Michigan. The windows have no screens and my landlord says I have to buy them. I just moved in. Before I go out and buy them, is it possible that under Michigan law the landlord has to supply screens for all external windows?

I have been a landlord in Michigan for 14 yrs. Screens, under the law, must be supplied by the landlord. However, storm windows do not. I have rentals in 5 cities, and all are required to have screens supplied by the landlord.

In general the landlord does not have to supply screens, but its not an absolute rule, if you are a college student then the university should have student handbook available in regard to landlord tenant laws
Michigan's landlord/tenant laws will likely not address this issue.





You would have to look up your city or town's local housing codes and ordinances, as that is where the issue of screens would be addressed.
