They build their nests on the inside of the screens every year and then find their way into the house. I need a way to deter them from building their nests in the spring. What can I use to keep wasps from building nests in the gable vents and screened roof vents on my house?
go to the hardware and buy some screen material and make the piece bigger than the outside of the vents...screw the vents back and carefully trim the extra away with a razor knife....hope this helped....What can I use to keep wasps from building nests in the gable vents and screened roof vents on my house?
For vents that are horizontal and facing down to the outside, if you can get to them from your attic, try throwing some moth balls on them. If they are vertical or facing the sky, and you can get to them in the attic, take a piece of window screen a little larger then the vent and some moth balls and staple the screen against the inside of the vent with moth balls sandwiched between them. You will probably have to replace the mothballs at least once durring the summer.
Fine screen wire applied to the inside will keep them out of vents.Building on the gable ends you should blast them with wasp and hornet spray. They have some out now that is a foam it works great.
