MY Sims game i built a house and when i click done it says need a sign but it wont let me leave that screen?

where do i get a sign if it dosnt let me leave the screen? someone please help this is for my son im trying to help him build a house...when i click done building...another screen pops up saying must have a sign for other sims to know something or another...then it only lets me go back to build mode....there is no sign option or any signs in the building material plz help thanksMY Sims game i built a house and when i click done it says need a sign but it wont let me leave that screen?

I play Sims often and am not familiar with this notice. Could it be that you built on a ';Community Lot';. The community lots are all named and therefore this might be what it means. If so, if you click on the buying icon, then there should be a choice of signs that you hang outside the business, or if the game thinks your house is a plaza, then a box will pop up that you type the name you want to give it. Other than that, I see no reason for this happening. A house that is built in a residential area, does not require a sign...or at least I have never experienced this and I have most of the Sims 1 and Sims 2 extention packs. Hope this helped. your probably building a community lot, not a house. I'm not exactly sure where the signs are, look in the decoration part of buy mode.
