In the near future i am going to breed crested geckos and i have had plenty of them before but read something the other day that they can actually be housed in those new screen terrariums. Can they or would it be better to stick with the glass ones? Can Crested Geckos be housed in a screen terrarium?
Screen enclosures are better for this species as they allow for ventilation and escapement of heat. Crested geckos don't like high temperatures, so the latter is very important. Can Crested Geckos be housed in a screen terrarium?
It is better for them in some ways to have mesh cages. The glass ones are bad because they overheat too much if in full sun, but also if your water contains a lot of chemicals it stains on glass (and that's annoying!). The screen cages are good because you don't get any water problems and it lets out heat better so your crestie doesn't boil. But beware because a cat can hook his claws through it and some screen cages can't take much weight on the sides or top. As for the climbing, I've just tried it on my mesh top and the gecko can climb it but not as well as on glass.
So you could try screen cages if you want, but remember they don't offer the same protection as glass ones.
Either or, doesn't matter. Mine is inside of a glass tank currently but they can stick to both glass, and the screen terrariums.
That's like the gieco lizard right? I think we had them between our townhouse and the utility room, so i think they go everywhere. We coulnt get rid of them. THey are nice though.
I think, that it'll depend on where do you live and if they're going to live (indoors or outdoors).
